[POLGOV DPP UGM RESEARCH] Research Workshop “Pilkada Serentak 2017”

PolGov DPP UGM in cooperation with Australian National University (ANU) held a research workshop on preparation of research “Local Elections 2017” on 15-16 December 2016 in Yogyakarta. This research program is to examine the dynamics of Pilkada Serentak in 2017. A total of 41 participants attended, consisting of DPP lecturers, PolGov-DPP researchers, and researchers whose proposals were selected in the selection of “Call for Proposal.”

This workshop discussed a number of sub-themes, democratic capitalization, money politics, campaign strategy, the role of local actors and the institutionalization of political parties at the grassroots. This workshop aims to finalize the research plan of 19 researchers from Aceh to Papua, such as how to arrange literature review based on previous research analysis related to election and money politics in General Election 2014. Through this workshop, participants can discuss and exchange ideas about literature review and methodology research to be used.

With more dynamic political developments, this workshop is expected to strengthen the network among young domestic researchers while encouraging international collaboration. This includes how to consolidate democracy through political and governmental learning. [Irwan]
