Prof. Dr. Purwo Santoso, M.A.
Purwo Santoso is a professor of politics and chair of the Doctorate Programme at the Department of Politics and Government. His academic career has focused primarily on the issues of Governance, Public Policy, and Local Government. Purwo completed his undergraduate studies at the Government Science Programme, Universitas Gadjah Mada; received a master’s degree in International Development at St. Mary’s University, Halifax, Canada; and his doctorate in political science from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 1999. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on environmental politics and delivered his professorial speech on the topic of transformative social sciences and learning perspectives in Indonesian higher education. One of his books is Analisa Kebijakan Publik (Public Policy Analysis, PolGov-JPPUGM, 2010). His most recent journal article is Inevitability of Hybrid Model: Trajectory of the State’s Transformation in Post-Suharto Indonesia, co-written with Joash Tapiheru and published by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in collaboration with the Local Government Development Foundation.
