Dr. Indah Surya Wardhani

Indah Surya Wardhani became a lecturer in 2024. Previously, she was a researcher at Litbang Kompas (2005-2015) and a researcher at Research Centre for Politics and Government (PolGov). At PolGov, she was involved in studies on natural resource politics, civil society, and gender. She participated as a researcher in UGM’s collaborative research program with Lund University, Sweden, Civil Society Elites (2019-2021), and UGM’s collaborative research with University of Melbourne, Gender, Collective Action and Governance in Rural Indonesia (2019-2021). In the field of natural resource politics, she was a researcher in UGM’s collaborative research program with University of Oulu, Finland, Transparency Identity and Governance of High-Value Natural Resources (TIGRe) (2017-2023), and UGM’s collaborative research and capacity-building program with Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Citizen Engagement in Resource Governance and Sustainable Transition (SUSTAIN) (2021-2026). Indah earned her S1 in Sosiologi, Fisipol UGM (2004), her S2 in Urban Management and Development at Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University, Belanda (2012), and her S3 in ilmu politik at DPP, Universitas Gadjah Mada (2023). Her dissertation was titled, “Menjaring Uang Minyak: Assemblage dan Translasi Norma Global tentang Transparansi Sektor Industri Ekstraktif.” She also received training on natural resource governance through the ‘Reversing Resource Curse’ program, a collaboration between Revenue Watch Institute (RWI) and Open Society Foundation at Central European University (CEU), Hungaria (2018).
